Just a few happenings of this lovely winter--♥

First, Melody got glasses about a month ago. Shortly after, guess who got them next? Yes, I'm still getting use to them. But I'm not only wearing glasses. I also ordered contacts. Let's just say that's harder to get use to than glasses. ;)

Christmas? Amazing. :) We didn't get any snow this December, but still did alot of different things to celebrate.

A Church party (with a white elephant gift exchange..I ended up with tons of candy :D yes, I
was thrilled), School Party, tons of baking, caroling, countless golf cart rides to and from stores, endless wrapping, and towering cups of hot chocolate. Oh, and reading.

I spent December working on one of the best books ever...Carry on, Mr. Bowditch (And some other books. I'm always reading at least 3 books at a time :). I loved it. so much. There were some parts that just got a little old, but the story is phenomenal. Highly Recommended.

As for New Year's Resolutions, Cassidy and I came up with a ~~fun~~ challenging little plan. We (Cassidy and I) are going to try to read 52 books in 52 weeks. A book a week for all of 2012. We spent last week running up and downstairs, writing down our favorite books that we are aching to read. I'm excited. I hope I succeed. :)

Also, greatly inspired by some new friends, we think it would be neat to choose a few skills to learn this year. Some things I chose are gardening, canning, more sewing, crocheting, and learn how to make an outstanding pizza :)

Exposing Evolution with Creation.

"Three times the bible speaks of people acting like "an animal" (Ps. 73:22; Titus 1:23; 2 Peter 2:12). What makes the difference between a human being and an animal? One of these verses says that such people, like animals, "act without thinking." In another version of the Bible, it says that they are "creation of instinct." Animals do not think about the choices they make. They act on instinct or are trained by human beings. Only we human beings can stop and think about the choices we have to make."

Reading this gives a clear understanding that we could not have evolved from apes, or any other animal. While animals have incredible abilities, fully and masterfully designed by God, it still shows that animals could not have come from the un-knowledgeable brains they had to masterpiece brains of humans.

Let's take a look at some of the amazing creatures created by God.

The Penguin is a great example in disproving evolution. Looking at the abilities in this animal, we see how complex and wonderfully made it is. For instance, you all know that if an egg is not kept warm, the baby dies. God created this animal with a skin flap for the male. He huddles over the egg, which is covered by the skin flap, and keeps it warm.

While he does this, the female penguin leaves for a few months, searching for food. What is fascinating is that the female returns precisely at the right time, to feed the baby when it hatches. If it is late, the baby dies. How does it know exactly when to return? Some may call it a mystery. But it's not; it's the indescribable hand of the Creator.

Penguin Fact: Did you know that the penguin, who swims in freezing cold water and dwells on icebergs, is more likely to over-heat than freeze? Incredible!

Of course, there are thousands of more creatures to be discussed like the penguin,

but I'd like to move on to the symbiotic relationship, which may even fascinate you more...

There are many creatures who could not live without another provider. One of the most intriguing of the types are the termites and flagellates.

First of all, let's bring up the subject of wood. (Yes, it's an odd one at first, but you'll see why, later.) Wood includes a sizeable amount of a substance called Cellulose. We humans are unable to digest wood in any form, because of the Cellulose. But, the termites live almost completely on wood. But, Termites cannot digest cellulose either. How can they eat it if they can't digest it? (Here comes the strange, amazing part...)

Inside Termites are small organisms called Flagellates in their intestines. Flagellates are only safe when they are away from oxygen. Left in the open air, they quickly die. But, these Flagellates have the ability to digest wood! So, when the termite finishes his delicious meal of wood, the flagellates digest the cellulose for it.

What happens if these two dependent creatures are separated? Someone did an experiment to find out, exposing extra oxygen to the termite to kill the flagellates. Then they fed the termites wood. Guess what happened? They were unable to digest it.

Without the partners living together, how would they sustain life? They couldn't. What's more, is that Evolutionists believe that creatures evolved over a series of time. But, if these two creatures evolved at different times, how would they still be living today?

Termite Fact: Did you know that termites are blind creatures, unable to be around light? Yet they are able to build palaces like this!

Termites and Flagellates are not the only symbiotic couple. Many other creatures, including plants, are mutually dependent on one another to live.

Question to think about:

If Apes evolved into people, why aren't they still doing it?

The other day, I was Christmas shopping in Claire's with my sister. A group of girls were standing by us when the song, "Little Drummer Boy" came on. This is one of my favorite Christmas songs.

But I was really upset and sad to hear that this was not the sweet tune telling the story of a little boy coming to Baby Jesus, but instead with a new beat and rap. What was even worse is that when the group of girls heard this song come on, they all started shouting and saying "Oh my gosh, I love this song!!" and singing to the lyrics. I stopped and thought for a moment.

My guess is that these girls did not know the true meaning behind these words. How, I thought, could someone listen or recreate this song, and not even pay attention to the meaning?

Everywhere I look, is Christmas--without Jesus.

Signs are put up, expressing the delight of the season, but with the wrong reason. Most of these signs don't even say Christmas....Instead they are written, Happy Holidays! or Season's Greetings!

Our culture has been pressed by the enemy to take Jesus out of Christmas completely. Satan has tried to hide him under mounds of dirt like a secret never to be found.

Last I checked, Christmas was here only to celebrate Jesus' Birthday. Christmas should not be focused on the gifts, latest music, and Santa. The little Drummer boy is all about using his drum as a gift to Jesus! Luke 2:11 says,
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

It seems that today, Children are more excited about celebrating this season for Santa instead of Jesus. Kids excitedly write letters to this mythical old jolly man...why don't we write prayerful letters to a real God instead, with the same attitude and excitement as kids would to write Santa? It's almost as if Santa has taken the place of Christ! Something is very wrong with this picture.

We can't let the birthday of the most glorious king and Savior be hidden from the world.

This year, don't be blinded by attempts of Christmas without Christ.

Remember the true meaning of Christmas.

I've recently felt inspired by fellow bloggers to post the gifts God has given you. Even the little things that we often take for granted each day are beautiful blessings from God~

-Going to starbucks and wal-mart in freezing cold weather with friends.

-Tough Essays that improve my writing skills.

-Working on school at the library with a sweet friend.

-Being able to regularly babysit a toddler and newborn baby.

Yes, school has started again in our house...

Today was my first day of 7th Grade...Yikes! ;)

We're doing a co-op this year and my mom is the "Teacher". It was really good today and I think I'm going to learn ALOT. (And when I say it like that in all caps, I mean it!! :)

One of the big Challenges that I am doing this year for school is by the end of the year, I have to draw the entire world by memory.. :-O. We started with the United States of America today...

I remember the day she was born. Nine years ago on July 18th, 2002 I had a little sister. I was no longer the youngest of the family--I was a big sister.
I was so proud to be able to help take care of the new baby. Help feeding her, hold her in my lap, and just be her big sister.

With every year, she has grown into a very enthusiastic little girl. She is full of laughter and giggles.

And of sunshine and joy.

We actually haven't even known each other very long. (Well, we knew who each other were, but didn't KNOW each other). We began to gain a close friendship back in October when her family joined our church! She has been a great blessing to me!

Melody, Eli, and I have all planted Squash seeds. We are getting very excited as each one sprouts and turns into a plant. Soon we'll have yummy squash to eat. (And we hope to plant tomatoes, peppers, flowers, and hostas this week!)

Last weekend was such an amazing time. Ghea is something that I look forward to every year--and every year, it seems to be more fun than the last :)

For three years now, our family has helped with the Used Booksale. It's alot of work, but it's so worth it (Even if it means getting up at 5 in the morning :). I love helping out with it.

Sorting, Cashiering, sorting some more, and hanging with friends :D

There's a whole lot more to Ghea, other than the used book sale, but we didn't get that many pictures. (Sorry :P)

So Thursday, we went to Universal. I think most of us loved Disney more, because pretty much only my dad and Cameron are into Roller coasters. Melody doesn't like them and Cassidy and I sorta do...a few :)

Today in Church, I was shocked when I heard our Pastor announce that only 40% out of 60% of teens/middle school aged people know what Palm Sunday is. It made me want to share the story with you all.

Disney World {Part two}

That evening, we went the the yacht club. There, they had this great ice cream shop called "Beaches and Cream". (We went here when we last came, eight years ago!)

I loved everything about it. It was such a fun theme.

As you can kind of tell, the guys all went kind of crazy over the jukebox. {Well, the girls did too...just not as much..;D}

Next door to the Ice Cream Parlor was a small arcade center. The guys loved the 'cars' :D

My friend has just posted an article on her blog that all of should read. I have never been into the Peace sign or liked the design of it (As you will see what it is the post) and own nothing with the symbol. After reading this, I realize what this really symbolizes. I don't want to give it all away though. But please, please, please read this post. Frank Buckles {Last World War I Veteran}

Frank Buckles, who drove an Army ambulance in France in 1918 and came to symbolize a generation of embattled young Americans as the last of the World War I doughboys, died on Sunday at his home in Charles Town, W.Va. He was 110.

His death was announced on his Web site.

He was only a corporal and he never got closer than 30 or so miles to the Western Front trenches, but Mr. Buckles became something of a national treasure as the last living link to the two million men who served in the American Expeditionary Forces in France in “the war to end all wars."

Frail, stooped and hard of hearing but sharp of mind, Mr. Buckles was named grand marshal of the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington in 2007. He was a guest at Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day 2007 for a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns. He was honored by Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates at the Pentagon and met with President George W. Bush at the White House in March 2008.

United States senators played host to him at the Capitol in June 2008 for the impending 90th anniversary of the World War I armistice. And he appeared before a Senate subcommittee in December 2009 to support legislation named in his honor to bestow federal status on a World War I memorial on the Washington Mall built in the 1930s.

The Department of Veterans Affairs said he would be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.

Sought out for interviews in his final years, Mr. Buckles told of witnessing a ceremony involving British veterans of the Crimean War, fought in the 1850s, when he was stationed in England before heading to France. He remembered chatting with Gen. John J. Pershing, the commander of American troops in World War I, at an event in Oklahoma City soon after the war’s end.

And he proudly held a sepia-toned photograph of himself in his doughboy uniform when he was interviewed by USA Today in 2007. “I was a snappy soldier,” he said. “All gung-ho.”

Frank Woodruff Buckles was born Feb. 1, 1901, on a farm near Bethany, MO. He was living in Oakwood, Okla., when the United States entered World War I, and he tried to enlist in the Marine Corps at age 16, having been inspired by recruiting posters.

The Marines turned him down as under-age and under the required weight. The Navy did not want him either, saying he had flat feet. But the Army took him in August 1917 after he lied about his age, and he volunteered to be an ambulance driver, hearing that was the quickest path to service in France.

He sailed for England in December 1917 on the Carpathia, the ship that helped save survivors of the Titanic’s sinking in 1912. He later served in various locations in France, including Bordeaux, and drove military autos and ambulances. He was moved by the war’s impact on the French people.

“The little French children were hungry,” Mr. Buckles recalled in a 2001 interview for the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress. “We’d feed the children. To me, that was a pretty sad sight.”

Mr. Buckles escorted German prisoners of war back to their homeland after the Armistice, then returned to the United States and later worked in the Toronto office of the White Star shipping line.

He traveled widely over the years, working for steamship companies, and he was on business in Manila when the Japanese occupied it after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. He was imprisoned by the Japanese and lost more than 50 pounds before being liberated by an American airborne unit in February 1945.

After retiring from steamship work in the mid-1950s, Mr. Buckles ran a cattle ranch in Charles Town, and he was still riding a tractor there at age 106.

In April 2007, Mr. Buckles was identified by the Department of Veterans Affairs as one of the four known survivors among the more than 4.7 million Americans who had served in the armed forces of the Allied nations from April 6, 1917, when the United States entered World War I, to Nov. 11, 1918, the date of the armistice.

Two of the four — J. Russell Coffey and Harry Landis — had served stateside in the American Army. Mr. Coffey died in December 2007 at 109; Mr. Landis, in February 2008 at 108. John Babcock, who was born in Canada, served in the Canadian Army in Britain in World War I and held dual American and Canadian citizenship, died in Spokane, Wash., in February 2010 at 109.

The last known veterans of the French and German armies in World War I, Lazare Ponticelli and Erich Kästner, respectively, died a few months apart in 2008; Harry Patch, the last British soldier, died in 2009. Claude Choules, who served in Britain’s Royal Navy and now lives in Australia, and Florence Green, a member of Britain’s Women’s Royal Air Force and who lives in England, are thought to be the only two people still living who served in any capacity in the war.

Mr. Buckles is survived by his daughter, Susannah Flanagan. His wife, Audrey, died in 1999.

More than eight decades after World War I ended, Mr. Buckles retained images of his French comrades. And he thought back to the fate that awaited them.

“What I have a vivid memory of is the French soldiers — being in a small village and going in to a local wine shop in the evening,” he told a Library of Congress interviewer. “They had very, very little money. But they were having wine and singing the ‘Marseillaise’ with enthusiasm. And I inquired, ‘What is the occasion?’ They were going back to the front. Can you imagine that?”

Disney World. {Part One}

Here we go. Part one of our vacation. Before you start reading, let me say that this only says a fraction of how much fun we had there! It was really an indescribable time!

Day 1: Fort Wilderness Campground

We were all up before 6:00 and set to go by 7:00 A.M.
It wasn't that bad of a ride. Of course, we always have a "fun bag" to keep us entertained :D

When we got there, Cassidy and I took a bike ride around to 'explore' the area. We couldn't find the store for a while though :)
Day 2: Magic Kingdom

Madelyn is our little neighbor that we baby-sit every week. We started baby-sitting her at seven weeks! We have so many precious memories of watching her grow into a beautiful little girl.

Year in Review 2010

I thought that I'd give all of you an update on our fabulous 2010 year!

This year has gone by way too fast!! It seems just yesterday we were at our friend's house celebrating the new year!!

Well, let me begin...

January, Cassidy and I went on an awesome shopping spree with some of my best friends for a birthday. We went to North Point Mall, The Cheescake Factory, and Barnes and Noble. We so many great memories there, and I will always treasure the moments! :D ♥

In May, we joined a new Church (New Beginnings) and we have really enjoyed our new church Family, and I have also enjoyed being able to work with the Worship Team, playing my violin. Now, we have a morning Family Bible Study, followed by a service. Every week, Cameron has arranged a puppet show to re-cap the last study that we did in our Bible Study. He's has a lot of fun doing that, and I've really liked being a puppeteer :D

In June, Cassidy, Melody, and I attended the 2nd year of Camp Butterfly and there we also made so many great memories!! We had so many activities including a pink night, where we all dress up in pink and have a contest of who wore the most pink, The Underground Railroad game, Water games, and the last night, our tents got rained out, so we all squeezed into a basement for the night :D

Then, a few weeks later, one of my best friends invited all of us girls to go to the Fox Theater and see "A Little House on the Prairie Musical", starring Melissa Gilbert as Ma! (Yes, we're all big fans of A Little House, and had such a great time together!)

July 4th was one of the first times in a very long time that we didn't travel somewhere. We were thrilled that we could be here! On the 3rd we went to the parade, which was so much fun, as was the fireworks, and party that we went to. The following day, on the 4th, we went to a church celebration for the 4th. We had a great game of capture the Flag, which I ended up doing something to my foot...it was't fractured, but it hurt a ton!! It didn't heal for about 6 weeks, which was a drag and I couldn't walk around much :(

A few years ago, I did soccer, which I LOVED, and this year I did it with some great friends. It was kind of sad though since it was my last year because I'm in 6th grade now :-/

October, I turned 12... (YAY!! :D) This year, instead of a party, I wanted to go spend the night in a hotel and have a special time with my mom. But, we won't be able to do it until February, but, I have something to look forward to....right?? ;D

Thanksgiving, we had a nice evening with some church friends over and my Uncle. It was a nice time of Fellowship and of course a delicious meal...;D

So, now I am here in December. Some of my soccer friends were gonna do basketball and they wanted me to do it to. So, I have started Basketball this month. Before I had started, I knew nothing about basketball. All I knew was that there were two teams, two hoops and the goal of the game is to score as many baskets as you can :P But, with the help of the most awesome coaches in the world (Who were also my coaches in Soccer), I've been catching on really quickly!

This past week, some good friends hosted a cookie Exchange and we came home with some delicious cookies!! YUM!! We were also able to bless someone else with a dozen cookies to our neighbor. This was also such a nice time, with some Christmas games, and seeing old friends.

Then, Friday we were invited to a wonderful Christmas Party. We drove to a nursing home, and sang some songs for some of the people. They really appreciated it so much. It was really nice getting to go introduce yourself and just talk with them. One of the men there was so touched that there were tears streaming down his face.

Then we went back to the house and made Chex Mix with some $1,000,000 bill tracts. We once again got into the car and went to a HUGE shopping center and passed out all of the bags and had a few tracts left over. All together, we passed out over 200!! We were so happy that so many people received the tracts. I'm still praying that they will be touched by the Holy Spirit and turn their lives to Christ.

God has truly blessed our lives this year and I am praying that the next will be as grand as this one.

May the Lord bless you all this Christmas and the next year.

Christmas Outreaches

Last Friday, we attended such a nice Christmas party at some of my best friends' house :)

A Little before dinner time, we went to a nursing home and sang some carols for them. They were so touched by it! I loved doing it. After we sang we went up to them and just talked. There was one man who had tears streaming down his face. They really just loved it!

Then we went back to their house and had dinner. We sat around the table answering different questions about ourselves, sharing funny and embarrassing stories, while making so many memories.

After that, we made some chex mix and headed out to a huge shopping center and split up into two groups to pass out the chex-mix and tracts. I've been praying that some people took the time to actually read through it and realize they need the Lord.

Then, once again we drove back to the house and made "Cake in a Coffee Cup" It was soooo good!!
{Maybe sometime I'll put the recipe on here :)}

Walking in the Fruits of the Spirit - Love

Recently, I've been studying in my morning devotions how to walk in the Fruits of the spirit. I'm studying in the section of Love.

Love is such a powerful thing! It's not only about romance and marriage. Love is so much more. It takes so much love to forgive someone that hurts you, or to love someone that you don't necessarily like. I'm sure we've all crossed paths with that.

In my study, the writer uses an example from the Elise Dinsmore Books where someone had pushed Elsie hard down a hill and she fractured her ankle. When she heard about what his consequences would be (That he would be sent off to boarding school, away from his family}, she begged them not to be so harsh on him, for she couldn't imagine herself in his situation. Honestly, I must confess that I wouldn't have been so forgiving and loving as Elsie was. And though she is a fictional character, she is a great example. It must've taken great love to feel that way.

God says so many times in the bible to love others.
Doing good to those that hurt you, loving your enemies, loving others as yourself, etc.The biggest example of love that could ever be imagined is when God gave up His own son for us! Can you imagine doing so? He sent His son so that we might have eternal life by believing in Him {John 3:16}.

At church on Sunday,our pastor did an example of it. Taking a father and son and putting you in God's shoes. How hard it must've been to do that!

This week, I'm supposed to memorize a verse that I love:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ⁴ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ⁵ It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. ⁶ Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. ⁷ It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ⁸ Love never fails.

Christmas Presentations and Decorations

On Friday, we gave little presentations at our speech class and everything went really well! Hannah, Abby, Jackie, and I went outside when we were done and took a few pictures... I LOVE this one, below :)

This was a Christmas Veggie Tales Show. It was hilarious! I wish we took a video of this!

Abby, Jackie, and I did an Adaptation of the Three Kings, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Violins and Cameras

On Saturday, I had my violin recital. I played Concerto in A Minor, 1st Movement By: A. Vivaldi. It was fun :)

We were so happy to have this sweet little boy stay with us for a couple of days!! He is so cute!! This was his first time 'meeting' us so it took a while for him to get used to staying with us (he cried pretty often!), but once he did, he was so sweet!!

I ♥ Soccer!!

These past couple months, my awesome friend Renae and I, have been playing on the Upward Soccer Team! It's been SOO much fun!! :D I played 2 and 3 years ago, but last year they didn't have it because there weren't enough coaches. But, we were so happy to hear they had it this year!!! :D
We've won all of our games but one, but then this past Saturday we won against the team that had beaten us!! So, us and that team are kinda "tied for the best teams" so to speak. (The coach on that other team was my coach 3 years ago!! :)

Catching Up {Weeks 6-12.. Part 1}

Okay, I know I'm WAAAAY behind on Summer Accomplishments, so I'm gonna get them posted!

Week 6:
Making Popsicles

2 months ago, my sisters and I attended a Summer Camp that our Dear Friends Started up Last Year.
They had 2 speakers come and share with us, and one of them gave all of us popsicle moldings, so we can make our own popsicles! *Yay*! They were a little tricky at first because when we poured the liquid in and then froze them, it wouldn't come out altogether as one popsicle, but after emailing for some advice, we found out to run water under them for about 30 seconds... (Thanks Kait! "A Friend Loveth at all times" ;)
After we got them working, they were awesome! I loved them!

So there's week 6...

Week 7: Cleaning the fridge.
My mom was dying to have the fridge all cleaned out and wiped down, so Cassidy and I took that job :)

Week 8: Capri-Sun Purse
We've seen so many people that have these bags and have ached to make them for so long, and so one night I was determined to at least try. I stayed up that night, and it took maybe an hour to complete. But, it was worth it! :) (The only thing is that my sewing needle broke because the capri-sun was too thick to handle... but thankfully, we have extras around :)

Week 9: Millie Keith: Book 1

So many of my friends chatter about how much they love the A Life of Faith Series (A collection of books for girls, that strengthens you in your faith and love for God), so some friends lent me the first book to see how I liked it. At first, it took a little bit to get into, but then *bang* I LOVED the book!
If you haven't heard of these books I *HIGHLY* reccomend it. (Probably for 4th graders and up) To get more info about A Life of Faith, Click HERE.

Week 10: Oven Mits

We do sewing class with some awesome friends and one of the projects was Oven Mits. It was a very easy project, but I must say, it took a LONG time! I kinda messed up on mine, but practice make perfect! :)

Week 11:
Millie Books 2 & 3
Yes, I told you that I got hooked after the 1st one! :) You absolutly HAVE to read these books!!!

Week 12:
Cheesecakes

My friend made some cheesecakes a couple weeks back, and so I insisted upon having the recipe :)
There are 4 recipes, but I only made so far, so those are the ones I'll put out.

Blueberry Cheesecake
Ingredients: 12 oz. cream cheese,softened
3/4 cup sugar, divided
2 eggs
1 Tbsp. Cornstarch
1/2 cup water
2 cups blueberries, washed and drained (may use fresh or frozen)

Directions:

Preheat oven and baking sheet to 250 degrees. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, and eggs until smooth and well blended. Pour into deep dish (or x-large) graham cracker pie shell and bake 30 minutes or until filling is firm.

In a small saucepan, combine remaining sugar and cornstarch. Add water, stirring until smooth. Cook and stir over medium heat until Blueberry mixture evenly over warm filling. Refrigerate (or freeze) 3 hours or until ready to serve.

Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake

Ingredients (Crust):
1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs (I used Oreos that I scraped the filling off of)
2 Tbsp. Sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted

FILLING:
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
3 packages (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract

TOPPING:
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions
1. In a small bowl, combine wafer crumbs and sugar; stir in butter. Press onto bottom and 1-1/2 in. Up the sides of a greased 9-in. springform pan. Place pan on a baking sheet. Baking at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Place pan on a wire rack. Reduce heat to 325 degrees.

2. For filling, melt chocolate chips in a small heavy saucepan or microwave; stir until smooth Remove fro the heat; add cream and mix well. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add cocoa and beat well. Add eggs; beat on low just until combined. Stir in vanilla and reserved chocolate mixture just until blended. pout over crust. Return pan to baking sheet.

3. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until center is almost set. For topping, melt chocolate chips in a heavy saucepan or microwave; stir until smooth. Stir in cream and vanilla; mix well. Spread over filling. cool pan on a wire rack for 10 mintutes. Carefully run a knife around ede of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer. Refrigerate (or freeze) overnight.

4. Remove sides of pan Refrigerate leftovers.

I read the book 4 in the Millie Series (And am hoping to get book 5 soon!).

Also, this summer, my dear mother signed Melody and I up for the Library's Summer Reading Contest. It's over now, but I read over 27 books in the contest! It was really nice to have lots of time to read my choice of books this summer (Not to say that I don't like school books)! :)

I received this forward from a friend a few days ago. I thought it was so sweet. I hope you enjoy!

Ruth went to her mail box and there was only one letter.

She picked it up and looked at it before opening, but then she looked at the envelope again.

There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address.

She read the letter:

Dear Ruth:

I`m going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon and I'd like to stop by for a visit.

Love Always,

Jesus

Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on the table.. 'Why would the Lord want to visit me?

I'm nobody special.. I don't have anything to offer.'

With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty kitchen cabinets.

'Oh my goodness, I really don't have anything to offer. I'll have to run down to the store and buy something for dinner.'

She reached for her purse and counted out its contents. Five dollars and forty cents.

Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at least.'

She threw on her coat and hurried out the door.

A loaf of French bread, a half-pound of sliced turkey, and a carton of milk...leaving Ruth with grand total twelve cents to last her until Monday..

Nonetheless, she felt good as she headed home, her meager offerings tucked under her arm.

'Hey lady, can you help us, lady?'

Ruth had been so absorbed in her dinner plans, she hadn't even noticed two figures huddled in the alleyway.

A man and a woman, both of them dressed in little more than rags.

'Look lady, I isn’t got a job, you know, and my wife and I have been living out here on the street, and, well, now it's getting cold and we're getting kinda
Hungry and, well, if you could help us.. Lady, we'd really appreciate it.'

Ruth looked at them both.

They were dirty, they smelled bad and frankly, she was certain that they could get some kind of work if they really wanted to..

'Sir, I'd like to help you, but I'm a poor woman myself. All I have is a few cold cuts and some bread, and I'm having an important guest for dinner tonight and I was planning on serving that to Him.'

'Yeah, well, okay lady, I understand. Thanks anyway.'

The man put his arm around the woman's
Shoulders, turned and headed back into the alley.

As she watched them leave, Ruth felt a familiar twinge in her heart.

'Sir, wait!'

The couple stopped and turned as she ran down the alley after them.

'Look, why don't you take this food. I'll figure out something else to serve my guest.'

She handed the man her grocery bag.

'Thank you lady. Thank you very much!'

'Yes, thank you!' It was the man's wife, and Ruth could see now that she was shivering

'You know, I've got another coat at home.

Here, why don't you take this one.'

Ruth unbuttoned her jacket and slipped it over the woman's shoulders..

Then smiling, she turned and walked back to the street...without her coat and with nothing to serve her guest..

Ruth was chilled by the time she reached her front
door, and worried too.

The Lord was coming to visit and she didn't have anything to offer Him.

She fumbled through her purse for the door key. But as she did, she noticed another envelope in her mailbox.

'That's odd. The mailman doesn't usually come twice in one day.'

Dear Ruth:

It was so good to see you again.

Thank you for the lovely meal.

And thank you, too, for the beautiful coat.

No, I haven't forgotten about this blog or my Summer Accomplishments. I have been writing down the Accomplishments I've done each week, and I will post ALL (yes, all) of them on week 20. so,9 more weeks :) Our computer that we put pictures on is VERRRRRRYYYY slow and I wanted to just wait... but maybe I'll do them in separate posts.. Little house on the prairie, the musical! :D

Well, I know that it has been almost a month since we went to the Fox theatre to see this play, but our computer that we have to use to put our pictures on was messed up for a couple of weeks. But here are some pictures anyway!
For my friend's birthday, we went to the fox to see the Little House on the Prairie Musical Starring Melissa Gilbert as "Ma"! We were SO excited!!

First, we stopped for a delightful dinner at The "Cheesecake Factory". (A few pictures above)

Unfortunately, we were pretty high up, and I couldn't get any pictures of Melissa Gilbert :( When I was watching it, I thought over and over in my mind, "WOW!!! I STILL cannot believe that I'm seeing Melissa Gilbert LIVE!!!" :)
Well, this definitely was a night to remember :)

June 25th 2009, One year ago from today, a dear friend of our family's passed away and journeyed up to heaven. He was one of my brother's best friends.

Fixing up a Messy Room-- (Summer Projects)

Well, Here's week 4 of my summer accomplishments. (Week 5 will be here soon... The reason I'm so behind is we went with some friends to a Camp :).. FUN!!!)

Recently, Melody and I have been wanting to move our room from the basement to the upstairs (With a window! :) So, we took what has always been called the "Pre-school Room" Because My mom, for a short time, started teaching the 3 little kids school in that room. (But, it was also once, years back Cassidy and my room.) Anyways. Here's what we've done SO FAR. There will be some more changes, but, I'll let you know when that happens ;)

Back to cleaning.
Weeks back, Daddy bought us a lamp that I LOOOOOOVE!!!!!!!!!! It makes the room beautiful! He also got us a pink chair!!!!!! *Screams in delight* :) Better... And on my desk, I added that picture of me when I was 6 or 7... that was when I was in a violin group called "Fayette Fiddlers"

Hairstyles and home-made headbands!

Johanna posted instructions on her blog to sewing headbands that are oh so cute! :) I've made 3 since last night! They take about 30 minutes or less for an experienced sewer. Click HERE to see instuctions.

Johanna posted and asked for some hair styles that we like, (she's running out out of hairstyles!:) so here is one of my favorites. (I like doing it on Melody:)

1.) Divide your hair into two parts.

2.) Take a small section of hair and start twisting it.

3.) Then, take more hair and start twisting it, and then more... and keep doing it until it looks like...
This!
4.) Put the hair up, out of the way.

Do step 3 on the other side.
5.) Then, put it in a pony-tail holder or a scrunchy... whatever desired for the holding
And There you have it!
